Charlie Armadillo’s National Parks Explorer Series takes young readers on adventures through America’s National Parks. Each story combines wildlife, nature, and real places found within the parks, inspiring kids to explore, discover, and experience these incredible places for themselves.
Every book sold contributes to the National Parks Foundation. I have pledged to donate $1 per book annually to NPF. One day, I hope to work with NPS such that 75% of profits can go directly to the parks.
Meet Charlie
Charlie Armadillo is a curious little explorer with a big love for America’s National Parks. He loves learning about wildlife and nature from his encyclopedia, but nothing compares to discovering the real places, animals, and wonders of the parks for himself.
Charlie was inspired by my son, whose National Parks obsession once seemed to know no bounds. He devoured books and documentaries, completed Junior Ranger programs, collected park stamps and patches, memorized every U.S. National Park, and eagerly learned about the wildlife that called each one home. Watching his enthusiasm grow helped shape Charlie and the adventures he takes in every book. While his interests continue to evolve, his love of nature remains strong. I hope Charlie inspires other children to be curious, get outside, explore, and fall in love with the natural world, too.
Charlie believes every adventure is a chance to be curious, try something new, and see where the trail leads. And, of course, he’s always wondering …
Take the K.I.N.D. Club Pledge
You’ll discover one of Charlie’s goals in the National Parks Explorer series is to honor his K.I.N.D. Club pledge. The pledge is an underlying theme in all of the books published by Red Ribbit Reads. The intention is to motivate kids to get outside and explore the amazing world we live in, be it in a National or State Park, Wildlife Refuge or National Forest. Take the time to observe and appreciate the animals and plants that inhabit the areas you visit, and remember to follow the NPS guidelines of “leave no trace” (leave any area cleaner than you found it).
